Agenda Item
L.1) Discussion and consideration of Resolution No. 2025-35, urging the federal government to increase grazing opportunities on public lands to support the economic sustainability of local ranching operations and promote responsible land management practices.
Elko County's economy and cultural heritage are deeply tied to the livestock industry, which relies heavily on access to federally managed rangelands. Over 70 percent of the land within Elko County is under federal jurisdiction, and reductions in grazing allotments have significantly impacted local ranchers, rural communities, and the county's overall economic stability.
The proposed resolution reaffirms Elko County's support for expanded and balanced grazing opportunities as part of responsible multiple-use management on public lands.
