Agenda Item

G.1) Discussion and consideration of a letter of comment for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Tuscarora Field Office, Elko District, external scoping and seeking of public input for the Nevada Division of Wildlife (NDOW) and Governor's Offices' proposal for the re-establishment of Desert Bighorn Sheep into their historic range across public land in the Cortez Mountains in Hunt Unit 141, located 30 miles southwest of Carlin, in Eureka County Nevada. Due to the lack of precipitation in southern Nevada, NDOW is managing an emergency drought response for the bighorn source herd that would provide the animals for the Cortez Mountains translocation. Due to drought conditions and a lack of water and forage for this herd, it is imperative to capture and remove bighorn sheep by June 2025 to prevent a large-scale die-off.FOR POSSIBLE ACTION
