Some time ago it was mentioned the need to have more outdoor activities and the development of more tourist attractions for Elko County. The year 2020 was brutal for all those who were not lucky enough to have open outdoors as we have them right around the corner from home, and the youth have suffered a terrible loss when their sports activities were cancelled due to the Pandemic. These three points mentioned here are enough to consider the importance of the development of this trail system. This trail system, which in part can also be used for the development of outdoor races, horse riding and bike competitions and recreation, provides a unique development opportunity for the region. Our community needs it and is long due. Our youth need more sports and outdoor activities to live a healthier life and combat addictions and depression and our business needs it in order to start developing touristic attractions associated with healthy activities, something that is a boom worldwide currently now. Please vote to support this.

Please support Elko County applying for this grant. A feasibility study will allow for all-inclusive stakeholder input on how trails are developed and provide a unifying vision for moving forward. Elko County has many trails. Many are unauthorized. Many are damaged by competing uses. A well-planned trail system alleviates conflict between users and managers, mitigates environmental impact, connects communities, and provides a marketable economic resource for our tourism and sporting industries. Elko has great outdoor biking potential and can capitalize on a growing outdoor recreation market. Please move to approve this RDBG grant applicaton for Elko trail development.
