Agenda Item

L.2) Discussion and consideration to direct staff to draft a letter supporting the United States Forest Service's proposed rescission of the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule.   The rule generally prohibits road construction, road reconstruction, and timber harvesting within approximately 58.5 million acres of inventoried roadless areas in the National Forest System, subject to limited exceptions.    Rescission of the rule would provide the Forest Service with greater flexibility to consider road access, forest health and fuels reduction treatments, and wild-fire response activities based on local conditions and applicable environmental review requirements.
