F.2) Discussion and consideration to authorize staff to apply for the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Fiscal Year 2025 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP).   SCAAP provides federal payments to states and units of local government that incurred certain correctional officer salary costs related to the incarceration of undocumented criminal aliens with at least one felony or two misdemeanor convictions convictions for violations of state or federal law. Award amounts are determined by the federal government based on information submitted by applicants and available program funding a the time awards are issued.   The Elko County Sheriff's Office has received this funding for several years.
