P.1) Discussion and consideration of Elko County’s contribution to the 2025 Capitol Christmas Tree Skirt Project.
For 2025, the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree will be provided by the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest—the first time this forest has been selected for this honor. To commemorate this historic occasion, the U.S. Forest Service has partnered with the Nevada Association of Counties (NACO) to coordinate a special Christmas Tree Skirt Project. The skirt will feature decorative contributions from all 17 Nevada counties, representing the unique culture, heritage, and pride of each community.
Elko County is invited to contribute a piece that reflects the county’s character as part of this collaborative and symbolic project. The completed tree skirt will be displayed around the base of the Capitol Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C., during the 2025 holiday season.
County submissions are due to NACO no later than August 22, 2025 to allow enough time for the final assembly.
