D.2) Discussion and consideration of approval of County financial participation with the City of Elko in a “Shop Local” advertising campaign, with an initial phase beginning in early June 2020. The County will consider approval of $10,000 from contingency to match $30,000 being donated by the City of Elko.

    We fully support the proposed "Shop Local" grant program with the City of Elko to assist local business in their recovery from COVID-19 loss of business. As a leader in Elko County in providing news, sports and advertising information to residents, our nearly 1 million monthly page views at www.ElkoDaily.com is an important asset to area businesses in reaching local customers.

    While we were not mentioned in the City of Elko's original description of the program nor on the attachment "Shop Local Agenda Item", I have been in contact with city manager Curtis Calder and we will get together next week to discuss how the EDFP can be a part of "Shop Local".
