K.1) Presentation and consideration of the process for the required update of the Elko County Hazard Mitigation Plan including a request for public comment and suggestions. Elko County Emergency Management, along with the Cities of Carlin, Elko, Wells, West Wendover and Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) have launched a planning effort, known as the Update of the Hazard Mitigation Plan, to assess risks posed by natural disasters and identify ways to reduce those risks. This plan is required under the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 as a prerequisite for receiving certain forms of Federal disaster assistance.
