Agenda Item

G.1) Discussion and consideration of approval of the ballot question wording as required by Assembly Bill 191 enacted by the 2015 Nevada Legislature including appointment of members to serve on the “For” and “Against” committees. AB 191 is a state mandated election ballot question that revises provisions governing taxes and would provide for annual increases on fuels for motor vehicles if approved by the voters. It requires Counties to place a question to the voters on the 2016 General Election Ballot regarding indexing (annual tax increases based upon economic indicators) of motor fuel taxes. The process requires the development of a ballot question and committees to provide “For” and “Against” statements regarding the measure. County Clerk Carol Fosmo recommends the following individuals be appointed by the County Commission to serve on the “For” and “Against” committees: Michael R. Smith, Janet Petersen, Annette Kerr, Tami Keener, Sean Fericks, and Matt McCarty.
